  • Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash).
  • Payment information: Billing details are collected and processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full card number or financial details on our servers.
  • Support communications: If you contact us, we retain those communications to resolve your issue and improve the Service.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: We log which tools you use and when, in order to enforce usage limits, generate account usage statistics, and improve the Service.
  • Technical data: We may collect your browser type, device type, IP address, and referring URL for security and diagnostic purposes.
  • Cookies and local storage: We use cookies and browser storage for authentication session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Files and Content You Upload

PowerPoint files, Excel spreadsheets, scripts, and other content you upload are processed transiently — they are used only to generate your requested output and are not permanently stored on our servers beyond the duration of your active session. Generated output files (.pptx, .png) are available for immediate download and are not retained after your session ends.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Enforce subscription plans and usage limits
  • Process billing and send receipts
  • Send important account and service notifications (e.g., trial expiry, subscription changes)
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your content or files to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Trusted third-party vendors that help us operate the Service (e.g., AI providers for content generation, cloud hosting, payment processors). These providers are contractually bound to process data only as directed by us.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or government authority, we may disclose information as necessary.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.
  • Protection of rights: We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of SlideCompanion, our users, or the public.

4. AI Features and Third-Party AI Services

Certain features (such as IconGenerator and Slides2Script) use third-party AI services to generate output. When you use these features, your input (e.g., a text description or slide content) is sent to the AI provider to generate a result. We use reputable AI providers with their own privacy and data protection commitments. We do not share your account identity with AI providers — only the content necessary to fulfill the request.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use the following types of cookies and storage:

  • Uploaded files are not permanently stored — they are discarded after processing.
  • Generated files are not retained after your session ends.
  • If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection / Restriction: Object to or request restriction of certain processing activities.
  • Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

While we take security seriously, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

SlideCompanion is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a prominent notice within the Service prior to the change becoming effective. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
